The largest firefighter conference and expo in North America begins today and Toyne will continue to maintain a strong presence at the event. The 2017 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) takes place at the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN, today through Saturday. The Iowa-based fire apparatus manufacturer will present three of the company’s most versatile trucks.

As are all of Toyne’s apparatus, the Nashville, Tennessee, Fire Department (NFD) Pumper was made to fit the specific needs of the department. This pumper is the 23rd Toyne apparatus built for NFD and was part of a recent 10-pumper order Toyne is currently fulfilling for NFD. The Nashville Pumper features the 1,500 GPM Hale Qmax pump, a Fire Research Pump Boss pressure governor, an Elkart 240-125P Class A foam system, six discharges and two crosslays. Nashville’s latest pumper also boasts a custom external lighting system, a welded aluminum body with three compartments on each side and a 750-gallon tank.

Toyne will also display their Priority Response Vehicle (PRV) XL Edition, which received strong reviews when it was unveiled at the 2016 FDIC event. The PRV XL is designed to take on any situation as the first truck on the scene. Built to take on the toughest calls, the PRV’s heavy duty welded stainless steel body is engineered to deliver an arsenal of firefighting power. The apparatus is driven by a 450 HP Cummins engine and features a 2,000 GPM Hale Qmax pump, six discharges, and 410 cubic feet of storage. In addition, the PRV XL features a versatile pump panel, which is available in the slide-out and slide-out-and-down configurations or as a stationary mount in a compartment or the cab.

“Our PRV XL continues to impress the fire departments that test it,” said Mike Schwabe, President of Toyne. “We’ve put a lot of effort into making the PRV XL the fire apparatus that solves a lot of different problems and gives firefighters a lot of options. From what we’ve heard, firefighters seem to agree that Toyne has accomplished those goals.”

Toyne’s third apparatus on display at FDIC is a Pumper/Tanker Demo. This new truck features a premium bolted stainless steel body and includes a 3,000-gallon portable tank on a Zico hydraulic rack, multiple electric dump chutes and Toyne Tailored storage for slide-in ladders and pike poles.

The PRV XL and Nashville Pumper will be on display in the Toyne booth (#4631). Toyne’s Pumper/Tanker Demo will be showcased in the Freightliner booth (#4820). The 2017 FDIC features six days of firefighting workshops, displays and demonstrations.
