City of ST Joe FL Pumper

Port St. Joe, FL (May 1, 2019) - The City of Port St. Joe Fire Department has received delivery of their very first custom-built Toyne Pumper. Delivery of the department’s new Toyne Tailored Apparatus was completed in late March. Addition of the new pumper will have a positive impact on the department’s emergency response capabilities; currently the department has two Class A pumpers, one 75-foot ladder pumper, one brush unit and one rescue unit.

Toyne mounted the bolted stainless steel pumper on a Kenworth T370 2-door chassis. The powertrain consists of a Paccar PX-9 380 horsepower engine and an Allison 3000 EVS transmission. Fitted to the pumper is a Waterous CSU pump capable of moving water at 1,500 gallons per minute. Water flow is controlled by a Fire Research Pump Boss pressure governor. The apparatus features a 750-gallon UPF tank and is equipped with an ICI SL Plus tank gauge. Fire Research SPA540-Q28 telescoping lights were installed on the department’s pumper.

“We’re proud to deliver a customized pumper to the City of Port St. Joe Fire Department,” said Michael Schwabe, President of Toyne, Inc. “It’s been a great experience working with the firefighters of Port St. Joe to construct an apparatus that can respond to the large variety of emergency situations the department faces each year.”

Along with serving the residents of Port St. Joe, the department provides mutual aid to the surrounding communities of Highland View and White City in Gulf County, Florida. Their department is staffed by 17 highly trained volunteer firefighters. All of the volunteers are trained first responders. Nine firefighters have undergone additional training, with seven members certified as Fire Fighter I and two certified as Fire Fighter II.

Tactical Fire LLC, in Winder, Georgia, sold the Toyne Pumper to the City of Port St. Joe Fire Department.
